WORKSHOP: “ANCHORS AND BEACONS. “PLACE-BINDING PROCESSES AND RESIDENTIAL BEHAVIOURS”
Granada. 22nd-23rd April 2025

THE WORKSHOP

THE WORKSHOP

Residential practices as (im)mobility are shaped by our life course' trajectories and circumstances. But these practices should be also connected to the socio-spatial structures and contexts where residential behavior(s) are produced and reproduced. To this regard, a plenty of factors have been pointed out to play the role of beacons, steering or determining the extent of people' residential (im)mobility, likewise there are factors playing the role of anchors, tying the actors to specific places. Residential experience(s) and decision(s). The aim of this Workshop is to provide researchers with a much-needed opportunity to share ideas, findings and discuss insights pertaining to the links between place-binding factors and residential behavior such as mobility, immobility, migration, housing, etc. Both qualitative and quantitative approaches are welcomed.

The project “Multi-methodological Approach to Residential Behavior and Everyday Life (MARBEL)” invites researchers to join us in Granada on 22nd-23rd April 2025. There is no registration fee , and the organization will provide food and coffee during the seminar. Those attending the seminar are expected to cover their own accommodation and travel costs, although organizational support for booking accommodation or travel will be provided if desired, via the contact email. Researchers interested in attending but unable to find funding may let us know by sending a message and options will be explored to ensure that no one is excluded from the possibility of participating. The language to be used in abstracts, papers and at the conference will be English . This will be an ace-to-face meeting , as we consider it very important to facilitate an ongoing discussion during the two-day seminar and the creation of new opportunities for future collaboration.
