2nd IAA-CSIC Severo Ochoa School on Statistics, Data Mining, and Machine Learning
#THE SCHOOL
The 2nd IAA-CSIC Severo Ochoa School on Statistics, Data Mining and Machine Learning will be held in Granada, from Monday, November 29th, to Friday, December 3rd, 2021. This school will have a strong hands-on aspect and the participants will repeat and apply the learned lessons in practical exercises. The character of the lessons will be introductory, but the school will be directed towards researchers of all levels. Basic familiarity with Python and tools such as Jupyter Notebooks is strongly recommended.
Because of the highly interactive character of the school the number of participants will be limited to 40
As concerns the Covid-19 pandemic, we will adhere to the legal requirements that are valid at the time of the conference in the Andalusian autonomous region of Spain. These measures currently include social distancing and masking when indoors.

VENUE
The School will take place at the “Parque de las ciencias (Granada)”, Avenida de la Ciencia s/n, CP: 18006, Granada. This fantastic science museum is located at 15 minutes by walk from the city centre, and can be reached by bus (lines 5, 11, 21 and C5) and by metro (at the “Alcázar del Genil” station). In the coming weeks more information will be given about the rooms where the lessons will take place.
SOFTWARE
The participants will not need to install any software but need to bring a portable computer for internet access. Practical exercises will be held on the IAA-CSIC’s Jupyter Hub.

#REGISTRATION
How to register?
This School will be an in-person workshop. The registration deadline is September 30th. You will be informed whether you have been accepted no later than October 15th. Payment of the fee should then be made within one week.
To formalize the participation you must fill in the mandatory fields in the pre-registration form. Once you have been accepted you will receive an electronic invoice to confirm your registration. Payment can be made by bank transfer or credit card.
The maximum number of participants is 40. Up to half of the available slots may be reserved for staff from the IAA-CSIC. If the number of applicants exceeds 40 after the registration deadline, the SOC will decide on the applications based on factors such as geographic location, research interests and expertise, gender balance, or seniority in order to come up with an optimal mix of participants. Accepted participants will then be notified and receive an invoice. They should then proceed to payment of the registration fee
Registration fee
The conference fee will be 250 euros. The registration fee includes two daily coffee breaks and the conference dinner on Tuesday evening.
