SCHOOL AIMS AND CONTENT

The tenth edition of the European Radio Interferometry School , ERIS2024, will be held in Granada , Spain, from Monday September 30th to Friday October 4th, 2024. ERIS aims to provide a complete overview of radio interferometry covering fundamentals, data processing, and analysis techniques, along with practical hands-on sessions. The following topics will be covered in the lectures and tutorials:

  • Calibration and imaging of interferometry data (continuum, spectral line, and polarization)

  • Observational techniques using various arrays (eg, LOFAR, e-MERLIN, EVN/VLBI, ALMA & NOEMA)

  • Strategies for observation planning and proposal writing

Participants are expected to bring their own laptops, equipped with a recent CASA installation (version 6). Examples and tutorials will focus on instruments operating at m-, cm-, and mm-wave frequencies such as LOFAR, the JVLA, the EVN, e-MERLIN, and ALMA.

The Meeting will take place at the Instituto de Astrofísica de Andalucía headquarters (IAA-CSIC), Glorieta de la Astronomía s/n, 18008 Granada. The IAA-CSIC is located 15 minutes walk from the city centre, and can be reached by bus lines S2, S0, 11 and 9.
